Receiver in the Ear “RITE” Hearing Aid Technology
"Rite" hearing aid technology is one of the newest developments and a revolutionary breakthrough in regard to both comfort and discreetness of the hearing aid. Hearing aids using this technology allow the wearer to reduce the "occlusion effect". The occlusion effect happens when you place a hearing device in your ear that plugs your ear, and the result is that you hear your own voice with louder amplification and a hollow sound as if you placed your head in a barrel. Since "RITE" hearing aids do not close down the ear canal, they do not plug the ear, and thus the vibrations cause by your own voice escape out of the ear canal, unlike other types of aids that trap those sounds in your canal and produce the occlusion effect.
"RITE" hearing aids also prevent over-amplification of low frequencies, a particularly important feature for wearers who have a high frequency hearing loss, but who have normal hearing in low and/or mid frequencies.
By placing only the receiver (also known as “the speaker”) in the ear canal rather than behind the ear, the ear canal is kept more open and the higher frequencies receive greater enhancement, thereby leading to better speech intelligibility. These hearing aids also allow for a more natural sound of the wearer's own voice. This small, discreet, and comfortable hearing aid is ideal for wearers who are especially sensitive to the feeling of having something in their ear. A “RITE” hearing aid consists of a small speaker that sits in your ear canal, and it is joined to a small behind-the-ear aid by a small wire that sits snugly against the top of your ear. Because the behind-the-ear aid comes in colors that can match hair and skin color, and because the wire is small with clear tubing, the “RITE” hearing aid is virtually undetectable.
With RITE hearing aid technology, the typical complaints about comfort and cosmetic appearance can be eliminated while providing extra features that enhance the hearing experience.
Bluetooth Connectivity with Hearing Aids
Many hearing aids are equipped to be paired with any Bluetooth device such as a cell phone, landline phone, TV, computer, and iPod. A streaming device sends these signals directly into your hearing aids.
With a streaming device you no longer have to put a phone up to your ear. Instead the phone conversation goes directly into your hearing aids, and the microphone on the streaming device picks up your voice. You just depress a button on the streaming device to connect to the phone, TV, iPod, or computer.
